Touring Actor/Educator Teams

Our actor/educators have years of experience in education and childcare as teachers, camp counselors, tutors, and nannies. In addition to their experience in education, CCD teaching artists are Chicago-based actors, directors, stage combatants, playwrights, and other theatre professionals.
CCD is dedicated to assembling teams of teaching artists who are just as passionate about children and education as they are about the work they do onstage - artists who are not only able to provide your students and families with a nurturing and engaging educational environment,
but who teach by example so that your students can, in turn, learn to lead by example.

Jill Olson
The Queen Jill is the founder and producer of Storytown (a fully-improvised, interactive story for children 3-10 years old and their families) and the Chicago Director of Funny Bones Improv. A graduate of the iO and Second City Conservatory improv programs, Jill has performed around Chicago with iO, Second City’s Skybox Theater, Moving Dock Theater Company, Redtwist Theatre, and WNEP with Seven Deadly Plays and 365 Sketches. She studied playwriting at Chicago Dramatists; writing credits include Left Unnamed, Eleanor in American Machine and Other Works, and Mayfly: A Collection of Short Plays. Jill has served as Program Coordinator for This Is ME and Child Whisperer for The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival. She teaches with with Dream Big Performing Arts Workshop and is an improv Professor or Merriment with The Laughing Academy. |

Scott Sorrell
The JesterKing Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Scott graduated from Central Michigan University (B.S. Theatre & Interpretation, B.S. Outdoor and Environmental Education) and now lives in Chicago, where he is an actor, director, and improviser (on the team Melinda and the Mushrooms). Credits include: include The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Circumference of a Squirrel. |

Cathlyn Melvin
Glinda & Auntie Em Cathlyn is a co-founder of Compass Creative Dramatics, and has worked with children and young adults as a tutor, forensics coach, theatre director, and nanny, and as an ensemble member of GreatWorks Touring Theatre Company for children. She has had the opportunity to work with many wonderful theatres in Chicago and Milwaukee, including three awesome kids' shows with GreatWorks and the Jeff-Nominated productions Hickorydickory with Chicago Dramatists and The Count of Monte Cristo with Lifeline Theatre. www.cathlynmelvin.com |

Tyler Lubinus
The Wizard & Uncle Henry Tyler received his BFA in Directing and BA in Writing from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Since graduating, he has worked as an actor and director and his experience as an education artist includes work with Bubbles Academy, National Theatre for Children, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and the Des Moines Playhouse. |

Cassandra Quinn
Valentin Cassandra is a co-founder of Compass Creative Dramatics. Originally from Bedford, IN, she graduated from Huntington University with a BA in Theatre Performance and Sociology. Chicago credits include Space Wars: the Panto! at Piccolo Theatre, Devour with 20% Theatre and As You Like It with Spectralia Theatre. She has served as an actor, director, and educator for numerous educational theatres including GreatWorks Touring Theatre Company, Imagination Theater, and CLIMB Theatre. www.cassandraquinn.com |

David Fink
Mr. Orvendellis Dave is a guitar teacher, singer-songwriter, and an ensemble member of Nothing Without a Company Theatre Company. He teaches at Emerald City Theater School in Chicago, and has performed with Lifeline Theatre, The Hypocrites, City Lit Theater Company, The Gift Theatre Company, and Theatre-Hikes, and others. |
