COVID-19 Bedford Camp Updates

Illinois now has a Stay-at-Home order that goes through May 31st with talks of extending it again into mid-June. Additionally, many summer events and gatherings here have already been cancelled in anticipation of a state-mandated cancellation, and Chicago Public Schools are preparing to likely be doing distance learning even into the fall semester.

Also, recently the Governor rolled out a 5 phase plan and has divided the state into regions because they imagine each zone on its own pace working through the phases as opposed to being a state-wide decision. Chicago is, of course, its own region and will likely be the slowest to move through the phases.

Based on the new information, we've had to make the difficult decision of transitioning the program to an online camp rather than being able to join you in person this summer.

We're heartbroken that this is the case and will be doing everything we can to make this a smooth transition for you and your community.

We know that participating in theatre online will look and feel different than in person. However, our team has been working hard to create an online theatre experience that will still be highly collaborative, interactive, and creative and include an online showcase! To help you further conceptualize what we have shaped for an online offering, we'll be emailing families who are already registered for camp with more information about the camp itself with date options to transfer to that will be in July and August.

We're happy to chat with any family or student who has further questions and we look forward to hopefully having your family join us online this summer! If you have not already registered for camp, and are interested in joining us for our online programming this summer, please send us an email to camps@ccdramatics.com and we'll update you when online camp registration is open!

Take care and be well,

What is a day at theatre camp like?
Each day is a little different, but for the most part, mornings are spent learning the scenes, songs, and dances that are part of the play. During this time, students work together with children of a variety of ages to collaborate on the production. Most afternoons, students participate in age-specific workshops in theatre topics like improv, stage combat, storytelling, dance, musical theatre, etc. The specific topics vary each year. On Friday, the students perform for their friends, family, and the public, complete with sets, costumes, props, and music, which have all been professionally designed and built for the students.

How much are tickets to the public performance?
Each student registered receives two tickets for the performance. Additional tickets are available at the door 30 minutes prior to the performance. Additional adult tickets are $5 and student tickets are $3.

What is the camp location like?

Schafer
Auditorium is a wonderful facility, fully-equipped for educating and entertaining families. We will spend the majority of our time in this lovely theatre space. In addition, some of our programming will take place in classroom spaces at Bedford Middle School. All areas of the school are air-conditioned for your camper's comfort, and some may find that having a light-sweater/jacket will benefit them as it can get quite chilly.

What if I have questions?
A lot of questions are answered in our Camp FAQ. If your question isn't answered there, you can give us a call at 773.893.0535 or email us at camps@ccdramatics.com. We'll do our best to answer any questions you might have!

Summer Camp 2020

Picture
When the local superhero league announces it's looking for new members, Cinderella is eager to try out so she can make the world a better place. The only problem is (unlike her lazy stepsisters) she wasn’t born with a superpower! But a group of friendly scientists have a few tricks up their sleeves, and with their assistance (plus the help of some curious kittens and a very mysterious group of elderly folk) Cinderella just might find a way to save the world!

Every evening, my kids would talk about how much fun the camp was!
My son, a teenager, woke up before me every day of camp week!! Now if that isn't excitement, I don't know what is!
