Camp Checklist Details
Checklist for Monday - Friday:
· A lunch (peanut free). Please pack a lunch for your child to bring with them daily and do not plan on lunchtime deliveries. Our lunch breaks will vary slightly day-to-day and we do not want to have someone miss out because a delivery hasn't been made or rehearsal to be disrupted with food deliveries.
· A snack (peanut free). We will be taking a short break in addition to our lunch break. If students would like a quick snack that can be consumed in a 5-10 min break (i.e. granola bar, grapes, string cheese), they are more than welcome to bring a snack for that break as well.
· A water bottle. It is important that the students are able to stay well-hydrated and having a water bottle reduces the need to disrupt rehearsals by frequent trips to the water fountain.
· A face mask. This may or may not be required, depending on the level of COVID Protocol. Please keep an eye on your email leading up to camp for more information.
· Dress comfortably. We will be up moving and dancing a lot and it is important that campers dress accordingly. We also require for campers' safety that they only wear shoes with closed toes, closed backs, and flat heels. Athletic shoes, dance shoes, and basic lace-up or slip-on shoes work great. No flip-flops or sandals, please. Students who arrive in unsafe footwear will be made to call home for a change of shoes and will be unable to participate until correct footwear is provided.
· Daily homework. Some of the students will be provided scripts at Monday's rehearsal and need to bring them to rehearsal with them daily. However, no worries if your camper doesn’t receive a script. That just means that we can teach them everything they need to know, while saving some trees in the process! All students, whether provided scripts or not, will have the responsibility of reviewing and rehearsing their parts at home each evening because theatre is rooted in teamwork, and everyone at camp, instructors and fellow campers alike, are counting on your camper to do their best and always be prepared!
· Observation. Please feel free to stay and for as much or as little of camp as you would like. We understand guardians’ desire to observe our creative and educational process and ensure that your camper is adjusting well to a new environment!
Additional Checklist for Thursday (returning campers, please take note this is a day earlier than previous years):
· Paper grocery bag. We request that everyone bring a large brown paper grocery bag with their name and character name written on them. This will be their storage bag for when they are not in costume on Friday.
· Base clothes. Though we provide the costumes, we do request that your camper have a specific outfit to wear under their costume. Students should bring a tank top/t-shirt and pair of shorts that are solid and neutral-colored (i.e. no pictures, writing, polka-dots etc). Please do not wear this outfit to camp. Have this be a separate outfit that is brought with them in their grocery bag.
Students will not be given their costumes without their paper bag and base clothes. Students arriving without these items will be asked to call home for an adult to bring the needed pieces.
In general, we are looking for kids to be in colors that are not bright or bold under their costume so they don't show through, or if it does show through, it is not distracting.
The ideal:
That being said, we never want a family to feel the need to purchase anything special for our programming. What they have at home will work fine even if it doesn't fit all the above criteria. Do not run out and buy anything.
How to make choices on what to use when you don't have the ideal:
Shoes that have a closed toe and a closed back and no heels, wheels, or lights are needed. Any color or style that fits these criteria is GREAT. Specific examples include: Athletic shoes, simple slip-ons, flat dress shoes, or dance shoes. They should pick comfort over style because we don't want them to be in pain or distracted by uncomfortable footwear when performing. Open-toed/heeled sandals or flip flops or shoes with a raised heel are NOT acceptable.
Picking out this outfit should be low stress as it won't be seen by the audience, and whatever they have will work. We ask that families do their best to match as closely as they can to the criteria WITHOUT purchasing anything new.
Additional Checklist for Friday:
· Additional meal. Camp is longer on Friday due to the performance. Please be sure to pack a dinner in addition to their daily snack and lunch for this longer day!
· Tickets. As a reminder, two tickets to the performance are included in your registration fee. Those will be sent home with your student on Wednesday and must be presented at the door on Friday for admittance to the performance.
· Hair. Have hair styled for the performance before arriving at camp because there will not be time to do hair before the show. As long as their hair is back out of their face (pinned, clipped, pulled back), whatever they would like to do with their hair is just fine. They may be creative and have fun with their hair, as long as it is completed before camp begins on Friday. Some characters may where hats, hoods, or headbands, which will make buns and ponytails on top of the head not a great choice. Students will be told specifically about these costume pieces on Thursday.
· The performance. The performance is open to the public and families are encouraged to invite others to come cheer on their performers at 6pm. The performance will run approximately 60 minutes and we will do a brief photo session afterward.
· End-of-show duties. Students must then stay to check in costumes and scripts after their performance. After the completion of the photo session and costume check-in, they are dismissed, but may stay for the t-shirt signing party during which the cast may choose to sign each other's camp shirts, water bottles, etc. as a souvenir from the week.

In general, we are looking for kids to be in colors that are not bright or bold under their costume so they don't show through, or if it does show through, it is not distracting.
The ideal:
- Colors - black, white, grey, beige, tans/browns, navy blues, dark purples work best. Preferably avoid bright/neon colors and things like reds, oranges, pinks, bright purples, bright blues or yellows.
- Patterns - none
- Pictures or writing - none
- Collar - none. Scoop or v-neck t-shirts or tank tops work best. We would strongly recommend avoiding polos, button ups, and long sleeves.
- Fit - able to easily be worn under other clothing but not so tight/revealing that the child would feel uncomfortable/embarrassed to wear just this outfit. This usually means avoiding cargo type shorts or baggy basketball style shorts, if at all possible, so that it fits easily under another outfit.
That being said, we never want a family to feel the need to purchase anything special for our programming. What they have at home will work fine even if it doesn't fit all the above criteria. Do not run out and buy anything.
How to make choices on what to use when you don't have the ideal:
- Color: Choose the least bright/distracting color on hand. Any color you have will be fine if you don't have one of the ideals.
- Patterns/pictures/writing: If the child doesn't have a plain shirt, turn a shirt with writing/pictures wrong side out
- Choosing a style of shirt: Avoid collars or long sleeves/button ups. It is better to have a brightly colored t-shirt with writing on it than a neutrally colored plain polo because of how it needs to fit under the costume.
- When choosing shorts: If all they have are baggier types of shorts, wearing those are favorable to wearing closer fitting pants. Pants will show in nearly all of our costumes. Wearing leggings or bicycle/spandex pants under a more closer/shorter pair of shorts that a child may feel uncomfortable in on their own is a better option than baggier shorts or wearing pants.
