Photography Internship with Compass Creative Dramatics
Compass Creative Dramatics partners with school and community organizations to offer quirky, engaging theatre programming designed to provide arts enrichment and cultivate personal growth and character. We strive to provide these organizations an opportunity to enhance their current theatre education and life skills training as well as provide arts programming within schools and organizations with limited arts resources.
Compass Creative Dramatics is looking for an Photography Intern to join their team for their upcoming 2014/15 season.
Duties include:
-capturing, editing, and archiving event photos such as classes, workshops, rehearsals and performances with students 3-18 years old and their educator/directors
- assist art director and marketing director in photo selection and editing
- assist marketing intern in creating and maintaining press clip, photo, and marketing archives
- assist team in spring fundraiser event planning
- assist with communications, scheduling, and contracting with freelance artists, partnering organizations, and teaching artists
- attend company meetings and events and help with general event duties
- some interest/experience in video capturing preferred, but not required.
Benefits:
Photography intern will work alongside the managing, marketing, and art directors and social media manager. Photography interns will have an opportunity to expand their portfolio, and gain experience working in various theatre and classroom settings that will afford opportunities to shoot in low light/theatrical lighting. It will also allow photographers to gain experience in moving subject photography. This is an unpaid internship but may be used for college credit.
Qualifications:
- 3 month minimum commitment required; especially seeking spring and summer interns.
- Working knowledge of retouching in Photoshop or other image programs
- Candidates should be comfortable shooting live action in low, in/outdoor, and varying light situations.
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a team player but have a strong ability to work independently and be able to take initiative
- hours fluctuating between 5-20 hours a week depending on theatre’s weekly needs and intern’s personal schedule
