Advanced Camp Workshops
Accelerating Imaginations: An Intro to Acting |
Drama Detective: An Intro to Dramaturgy |
Clowning Around: An Intro to Physical Theatre |
Advanced Auditions: Monologues |
We take a high-speed trip through the world of acting. This workshop includes theatre games to get kids' bodies revved up and creative wheels turning!
Our theatre games and activities help students warm up four tools that actors use on stage in order to be safe and perform their best: voice, body, concentration, and creativity. |
We put on our detective hats and explore the world of “dramaturgy,” or the study of theatre, and students develop their sleuthing skills to observe, ask questions, and interpret works of art.
Through games and activities, we introduce the students to the concept of Dramaturgy as a tool and a vocation. Students practice using tools that dramaturgs use in their jobs: careful observation, asking critical questions and seeking out the answers, interpreting the artists meaning of a piece and sharing that interpretation with collaborators. |
We explore creativity, emotions, physicalization, and storytelling through this imaginative class that introduces basic concepts of red-nose clowning and performing!
Through games and activities, actors explore physical storytelling using only their bodies and faces and learn about how red-nose clowns use physical theatre to tell stories and bring joy to audiences. |
Learning the art of a successful audition can help any actor improve their ability to secure roles.
This workshop will explore advanced techniques for having a powerful and memorable audition, with focus on introductions, presence, preparation, and follow-up. The students will have a chance to work on monologues (provided by CCD) with individualized coaching from one of our CCD educators! |
